5 escape unharmed from fire that engulfs North York home

    5 individuals escaped unharmed after a fire engulfed a home in North York early Wednesday, Toronto police say.

    Emergency crews have been referred to as to a single-family home on Elvaston Drive, close to Victoria Park Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East, at about 3:45 a.m. for a report of a fire.

    When crews arrived, they noticed heavy black smoke billowing from the again of the home.

    Trigger unknown

    The reason for the fire is underneath investigation, in accordance with Const. Allyson Douglas-Prepare dinner, spokesperson for the Toronto Police Service.

    Toronto Fire mentioned on the scene that the blaze might have began on the again deck, then unfold into the attic and thru the roof.

    By 4:45 a.m., the residential fire was underneath management, Toronto Fire mentioned in a tweet.

    Firefighters have been seen chopping by way of the roof to get on the fire.
