Grieving Mom Orca Finally Drops Body of Dead Baby Calf … 17 Days Later

A Southern Resident killer whale whose calf died shortly after start final month was lastly seen swimming with out the carcass 17 days later … in line with scientists, who say her “tour of grief” is over.
The Heart for Whale Analysis introduced Saturday that the mom orca in query — who goes by each Tahlequah and J35 — was seen swimming solo close to British Columbia along with her pod chasing a faculty of salmon … the primary time it’d been seen with out the physique of her deceased calf since July 24.

Scientists say the whale refused to half with the carcass for a whopping 17 days, in what they described as extreme grieving. The CWR says mom whales have been identified to move their dead calves for as much as every week at a time, however this case was unprecedented.
