Little Italy wine bar suddenly closes after less than a year

Mad Crush Wine Bar has suddenly closed its doorways at 582 School. The vino-focused restaurant was a reimagining of Crush Wine Bar, initially on King West.

Proprietor Jamieson Kerr (The Oxley, Queen and Beaver) is remodeling the area into one thing known as The Peacock Public Home on the finish of the month. It might be modelled after Queen and Beaver with extra of a pub vibe.

“Sadly, though I cherished the idea of a wine bar, the situation didn’t go well with it,” says Kerr. The primary points introduced up was that the area did not really feel intimate, they usually did not really feel engaged with the neighborhood.

“I really feel strongly that a relaxed and pleasant native pub might be a welcome boost to the neighbourhood. It will likely be a new form of ‘outdated pub’, that gives all the perfect bits of a conventional ale-house – properly stored beer, sincere meals, pleasant firm, good cheer – with a recent fashionable contact,” says Kerr.

The primary distinction between The Peacock and Mad Crush would be the TVs behind the bar downstairs and a large display in a non-public room upstairs for watching dwell sports activities.
