Step aside, newcomers. This nostalgic, ’90s sitcom is what Brits are streaming


​Nearly 15 years after it was cancelled, Mates is nonetheless there for British viewers.

The catchphrase-generating New York-set sitcom is the most well-liked present on U.Ok. streaming companies, beating big-budget unique productions from Netflix and Amazon.

Analysis by U.Ok. broadcast regulator Ofcom reveals Mates led the sphere within the first quarter of 2018, adopted by laddish Amazon auto present The Grand Tour and lavish Netflix royal drama The Crown.

The figures could also be attributable to binge-watching by Mates followers after the present was added to Netflix’s U.Ok. slate in January.

The Ofcom information reveals how streaming has reworked U.Ok. tv viewing habits, with 39 per cent of British households subscribing to not less than one service.
